Message from our President

To All Board Trustees, Local Association Presidents,
Executive Officers, and Past Presidents of OHBA:

PROTECTING THE AMERICAN DREAM

The homebuilding industry has a long and honorable tradition in America culture. We at the Ohio Home Builder’s Association are proud to be part of that legacy.

In the late 1800’s Alexander Simms came down the Ohio River and arrived at a new town on the Great Miami River. He built his home out of the riverboat he traveled in, and became one of the earliest settlers of Dayton. Six generations later, I am proud to be a homebuilder, one of our country’s last truly entrepreneurial endeavors.

Our industry is facing many challenges today, including an overburden of governmental regulations, population shifts, rising material costs, and sometimes the opposition of public opinion. We must continue to work together as an Association to keep the homebuilding industry strong. Owning your home is still the American dream. It is up to us to keep that dream alive for all Ohioans.

In 2008 we will continue to monitor the actions of the Ohio State Legislature closely. We will work with House members to make certain that our concerns receive their full attention, and that our interests are protected. We absolutely need the continued support of all members, both through Build-PAC and via personal contacts when possible, to ensure the voice of the OHBA is heard in Columbus.

Let’s make 2008 a year we can be proud of. Let’s work together to keep the Ohio Home Builder’s Association and the American dream alive and well.

Respectfully,

Charles H. Simms
2008 OHBA President
